Nationals of 62 countries and regions holding valid passports can apply for landing permission (follow the link full list COUNTRIES AND REGIONS WITH VISA EXEMPTION ARRANGEMENT WITH JAPAN) for short-term stays for such purposes as sightseeing and business trips without obtaining a visa. Since Singapore is one of these countries that has such an arrangement with Japan, Singapore citizens (Singapore passport holders) do not require a visa to enter Japan for temporary visits up to 90 days. However, this arrangement neither permits the engagement in paid activities nor staying beyond the period allowed in each arrangement.

In such cases, it is necessary for these foreigners and Singaporeans to obtain a visa.

LIST OF THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

1. Completed, Printed out Visa Application Form. The form can be filled in online only, amendments by hand are not allowed. 2. Original and copy of passport with 6 months' validity beyond the validity of the visa. Minimum two blank pages should be available for stamping the visa;
3. Original and a copy of a NRIC/EP/DP/Social Visit Pass/Work Permit/Student Pass;
4. Recent passport-size colour photo (4.5 cm x 4.5 cm) on a white background;
5. Authorisation letter (follow the link to download Authorization letter form);
6. Documents showing the itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip)
7. Bank statement for the last month (minimum amount required for a visa application is 3,000 SGD);
